Check out the tips and tricks below for finding time to read.

  • Read a half-hour before bed.
    • The blue lights in our phones are notorious for stimulating our brains and keeping us up.
    • Instead of scrolling through social media, set a timer, and drift off on an adventure.
  • Read in the Bathroom
    • The kids knocking on the door and clamoring to get in might, just add that three-d element to a scene in a book you are reading
  • Schedule a reading time with your kids.
    • Depending on their age you could take fifteen, twenty, or even thirty minutes to spend reading together.
  • If you are crunched for time, map out your week on an excel document and look for areas that you could decompress.
    • This might mean skipping an episode of the Office a couple of times a week.
  • If you are really into a book, take it to work and read on a break.
  • Take your book in the car or use the Kindle app on your phone. Many of us find time to read when waiting at a dr. appointment, or picking up a kid from school or sports. It might help you get there a bit earlier. You get to be the all-star parent and have time to read. Win-win-win
  • VACATION.

Reading can be done in a very healthy way, and there is nothing wrong with taking a month to read a good book. It just lengthens your period of enjoyment! Find what works for you and stick to it!
